Today Is A Chance To Start Over

Motivate Monday #11!

It seems as though my “inspirational” posts are not as popular as the other topics I write to here on my blog.

Actually, that’s just a fact. Numbers don’t lie 😆

You see, I’ve always been more of a realist. I’ve been an unemployed single mom with $25 to my name. I put myself through college, balancing work and kids and everything in between. I believe in sucking it up and getting the job done, because I have always had people relying on me not to give up.

And then I became depressed.

One of the MANY, many things I did was focus with intention on changing my attitude and my outlook. I started seeking out reasons to feel good, reasons to be happy, reasons to find joy in my current situation.

Part of the reason I started my blog – other than the fact that I secretly love writing, and dream of being an author one day – was to be more intentional with being positive myself.

I thought if I tried to lift up those around me, if I threw positivity out there, then maybe some of it will circle back around to me.

I may not be the most motivational person in the world, but I’m trying. I try and give you guys ideas on how to find more joy in life, and it helps me be more intentional in finding my own joy.

The thing is, I’m still trying. Every Sunday when I sit down to write my Motivate Monday post, I’m trying. And tonight, as I sit down and write this post, this is another chance for me to wade through writing a positive message for me to share with all of you.

Every day we have a chance to start over.

Every day we can choose to do something differently, to make ourselves a little better.

So while I may not be the best at inspiring others, I am determined to keep moving forward and putting effort into getting better at this.

I can choose to not be such a negative person, or so pessimistic. My mental health is on the line. I need to do this. I need to be happy, to live an intentional life, and be a more positive person for myself. If I’m not, then I suffer.

Every day I get to choose what attitude I will wear. And if I didn’t enjoy my less than awesome attitude yesterday, I sure as heck have the right to pick a better one today.

You and I are not the same people we were yesterday. We don’t have to be. That’s the beauty of a new day and a fresh start.

And if we’re trying to be better, and do better with our lives, and the people around us are judging and holding us back, then you know what? They probably don’t need to be around the new you.

We have the right to surround ourselves with people who encourage us to do better, who want us to grow and succeed. You do not have to apologize to anyone for wanting to become a better person.

Sometimes the people we had in our lives yesterday aren’t meant to grow with us today.

We get to choose each and every day who we want to be, and how we want to show up. And if someone is trying to better themselves, then cheer them on and be in their corner because it is so very wrong to try and hold others’ success back.

I want to grow, and change can be painful. But progress is 💯 worth the growing pains.

Today is a new day and the chance for a fresh start. I hope you make the most of it ❤️

Thank you all for sticking with me, and supporting me as I grow and evolve. I appreciate you all so much!
