UPDATE 12/30/2020
This post has been seeing a lot of traffic! I wrote it at the end of 2019, and boy… We did not see ANY of this coming!
A lot of this information is applicable for any new start, but let’s also add..
If you survived the shitshow that was 2020, that’s a win also.
2020 was like a bad relationship. We learned a lot about ourselves, we learned what won’t actually break us, and while we’re not sad to see 2020 leave, we’re thankful for what it taught us about ourselves.
So, take these tips below and spin them up for the New Year.

Motivate Monday series – #14
This is posting a little late… We have spent the last week working and packing and preparing… And after a day of travel (with the most awesome eighteen-month-old ever!) Mike and I made it to Kauai. We have been working so hard, and it is SO nice to have a week together so we can recharge.
Mike brought a card game for us to play on the plane – Would You Rather – so we could practice dating ☺️
So, here is our Motivate Monday post. I’ve been working on this for a while, and I think (I hope!) it’s a good one!
New year, new you
I used to think this was silly, and probably even made fun of people for being ‘lame’ and setting goals and working on self-improvement.
Because I didn’t want to work on myself.
There is NO shame and wanting to be a better version of ourselves. That’s the greatest thing we can hope to achieve.
So now here I am, flooding my mind with positivity and trying each day to do a little better in sharing it with all of you.
Write a letter
Before this season – this year – this decade – this chapter closes, I want you to write a letter to your future self.
Take a breath.
Give yourself permission to let go.
Start over.
Forgive yourself of any missed goals, unmet expectations.
Shake off the weight of others’ opinions.
Make a plan to make this new year unforgettable.
As we close the doors on 2019, let us leave behind regret, shame, anger, pain, disappointment.
2020 has no room for negativity. We are going to focus on our gratitude, our goals, and our dreams.
2020 is going to be OUR YEAR. It is going to be a season of growth, prosperity, and change.
This is going to be the year we find ourselves.
I’m excited!
Starting fresh
I’m excited to become a better version of myself. To be done carrying baggage that is weighing me down. To GROW, to learn, to become a better version of who I am, and I’m going to cheer you on as well because we are not in competition with each other.
You are going to do great things, and I am SO excited to watch you grow as well.
It has been one of my dreams to write (and I am humbled by every compliment I receive on our little corner on the Internet), but it has also been a dream of mine to inspire and encourage others.
I hope I can encourage you to find a better place, to find peace, to love yourself. I know how it feels to exist in chaos, to not like myself, and to yearn for peace.
As we move forward to the end of the year, let’s make amends with our past. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. It’s the stepping stones that got us to where we are now, and that’s a beautiful place to build from.
Working together
We are going to speak power into our hopes, into our dreams. We are going to make a plan and break it down into achievable goals.
And friends, we are going to hold each other accountable. We are going to make this a place of encouragement and inspiration.
Now, I’m going to ask you to do something kind of silly. I want you to put your FAVORITE get pumped, motivational, happy song on. Now, stand up. I want you to shake your head, your arms, your shoulders, your waist, and your legs. Shake off all the negativity. Let go of all the things you’ve been carrying that you don’t want to weigh you down next year.
We are all going to do amazing things 🥰
